For two years, the Gerber/Hart Library (1127 w. Granville) has supported GqC when few others have. They have provided the group with a free space, sometimes at the last minute for meetings. They have advertised our events, given our attendees free books, and donated food and materials to us when they have been able.
Now, the Gerber/Hart needs us!
Here's the info:
Chicago’s LGBT Library and Archives needs help with the Proud to Run race on Saturday, June 25. Gerber/Hart is a beneficiary of the event, and needs to provide volunteers to staff the race.
The tasks: Staff water stations, direct runners, clean-up.
The place: Lincoln Park/Montrose Harbor. T
he time: Between 6:00 and 7:15 AM for the first two tasks; 9:00 AM for clean-up.
The perks: Entry into a drawing for $100, $50 and $25 gift cards. All Gerber/Hart volunteers receive a $5 GH booksale certificate and fabulous Proud to Run tee on the day of the race.
More perks: Those who volunteer for Proud to Run through GH and recruit at least two friends will be entered into a drawing for a $25 cash gift card.
Got a bike? You can ride to the 10k course.
Want to run or walk?: Register at www.proudtorun.org.
This is an incredibly fun event, and the t-shirts are real runners shirts! Plus, if 5 people from GqC sign up as Proud to Run volunteers, all five will be entered into a drawing to win a free ticket to the Gerber/ Hart Gala (it's a pretty fancy time).
