Family and What It Means to You: A Safer Space Discussion

34

In the queer community, families come in all shapes and sizes, formed by blood, love or friendship. Chosen or gained through birthright alone. How do you craft a support system that will weather you through adversity? Who do you look to for guidance? Have their been any ways in which you find yourself without people to relate to, guide and nurture you? In thinking back to your current family, do you have any thoughts about starting one of your own? This topic is all about what family, community and environments in which to thrive mean to you.

Genderqueer Chicago is as safe a space as we can make it. To help with this, we have some working agreements that we would like all who come to meetings to keep in mind while within our safe space meetings. Please check out our working agreements here.

Safe space meetings are strictly closed to researchers and reporters in their professional capacities. Meetings are open to anyone else wanting to talk and think about gender! For more info, give us a shout at genderqueerchicago@gmail.com!
