Pride: A Safer Space Discussion

Pride weekend is just behind us, and many of us took part in the festivities. But what exactly do we mean when we talk about pride? Which events did we participate in and why? How do we relate to the ideas behind pride?

Social Anxiety: A Safer Space Discussion

Social anxiety is an issue that most of us deal with in one form or another. For this Wednesday, June 22nd, we're discussing how the state of being gender variant in our current society informs and affects social anxiety, and everything surrounding that. This includes coping mechanisms, individual experiences, and anything else that's applicable.

Open Topic

In light or recent events we are offering an open topic for Wednesday, June 15th to allow the Genderqueer Chicago community to process together. If we decide as a group that having some direction and distraction is preferable, then the intended topic for today was "Queer Takeover" where we would discuss ideas for businesses unrelated to gender and trans issues where every major decision is decided by trans, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming folks. This is a reminder that Genderqueer Chicago has resources to be a discussion space and does not have as many resources to be a support group. We do understand that all queer spaces will be a space for support especially at this moment in history.

Genderqueer Clothing Swap

This Wednesday, instead of a topic, we will host the Genderqueer Clothing Swap at the regular meeting time (7:00-8:15) at the Center where you can bring your clothes and look or simply select from the pile. We'll be donating leftover clothes to the Brown Elephant as well.
The same day, the Center will also be hosting a Trans Inclusive Ice Cream Social from 6:00-8:00.
